Tourism

As the government has invested in more than 800 construction projects – including roads, airports, ports as well as water and electricity infrastructure – the most remote areas of Equatorial Guinea are now accessible for tourists and travelers. The new Mongomeyen airport was also built in that purpose. Those improvements helped to boost tourism development in the country and therefore air companies to expand their international connections to Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea has the particularity to combine both ecotourism and luxury leisure tourism. The numerous high-class hotels as well as the pristine beaches make Equatorial Guinea very attractive for luxury leisure tourists.

Additionally Equatorial Guinea offers a rich diversity of volcanic islands, rainforests and tropical flora and fauna. Ecotourism is committed to promote alternative, clean and sustainable tourism in order to improve both the stay of tourists as well as the daily life of inhabitants of Equatorial Guinea. By using revenues from its oil and gas extraction industry, the government is seeking to develop ecotourism in Equatorial Guinea on a large scale. Improved infrastructure in the country is helping to make the country more attractive for inbound leisure tourists. Eco-lodges could soon become among the niche accommodation models with high growth potential over the forecast period.

Located in center Africa, Equatorial Guinea enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures during most of the year. The average annual temperature stands at 25 C, and increase slightly to 26 C during the wet season. The dry seasons are usually the best time to visit Equatorial Guinea. Due to the tropical weather, it is recommended for tourists to proceed to vaccinations for Cholera, Meningococcal disease, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus-diphtheria.  Anti-malarial medication is also recommended.
