UK-Africa Forum on Cultural Diplomacy 2024

"Build Up Cooperation between the UK and Africa"

(London; August 22nd - 25th, 2024 - Held Parallel to the Notting Hill Carnival 2024)

Overview

The UK-African relations have developed and improved over the last decades and are becoming an important factor for the success of the UK and the African regions themselves, both independently and collectively. The wealth of diverse cultures spread across Africa, the UK and the Commonwealth, includes many different languages and cultural traditions, while the openness of both regions to engage in intercultural activities and exchanges has been represented in significant ways in the development of their relations over the years. The development of these relations within the framework of the international arena, requires moreover greater and intensive dialogue and understanding between these diverse cultures in order to maintain the positive momentum. We have therefore initiated the “UK-Africa Forum on Cultural Diplomacy" in order to explore and present innovative applications and methods of cultural diplomacy that can be used to strengthen these relations even further.

The UK-African Forum on Cultural Diplomacy is a leading event within its field and traditionally hosted and organized by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy and other leading organizations. The forum includes events dedicated to the fields of international relations and economics, peace building, human rights, folklore, arts and culture. The conference curriculum will include a broad range of topics of discussion and also focus on specific areas within the field of UK-African Cultural Diplomacy in order to provide a wide and detailed analysis and perspectives. Through discussion, lectures and analysis the forum will highlight the growing need to develop UK-African Cultural Diplomacy. The forum will also focus on the opportunities for UK-African cultural diplomacy in the framework of the current global transitions and challenges. In particular, the forum will highlight the best practices of countries in Africa and the UK of practicing cultural diplomacy to educate and to strengthen relationships between groups within their countries and between their countries and the global community.
